Tips for booking Canada to India and South Asia flights
  • Be flexible by a few days. Fares to India often differ a lot between weekdays and weekends, and around Diwali, Christmas and summer holidays.
  • Compare one-stop routes. Connections through Europe, the Gulf or Asia are often cheaper than non-stops; check total travel time and layover length.
  • Check baggage. Many cheaper fares include less checked baggage. Families carrying gifts should compare prices with bags included.
  • Self-transfer itineraries (two separate tickets) can be cheaper, but you collect and re-check bags yourself and a missed connection is not protected.
  • Travel documents. Check passport validity, your destination's visa or e-visa rules, and transit visa rules for any country you connect through.
  • Parents visiting on a super visa need medical insurance that meets IRCC's super visa requirements, which a general travel policy may not; check with a licensed insurance advisor.
