This policy explains what information imdesi.ca collects, why, and the choices you have. imdesi is operated in Ontario, Canada, and handles personal information in line with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Contact form: your name, email address, the topic you choose and your message.
- Newsletter signup: your email address, and optionally your first name and country. We also record the wording of the consent you gave, the date and time, the page you signed up on, and a one-way scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address as proof of consent.
Information collected automatically
- Outbound link clicks: when you click a link that goes through
imdesi.ca/go/…, we count the click against that deal. We do not link the count to your identity. - Server logs: our host keeps standard technical logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and to keep the site running.
- Cookies: WordPress may set essential cookies (for example, to remember a comment form or a login). If we add analytics in future, we will update this policy first.
2. Affiliate links and third-party cookies
Some links on imdesi are affiliate links. When you click one and arrive at a store, airline or service, that company may set its own cookies to record that you came from imdesi, so it can pay us a commission. Those cookies are controlled by that company and covered by its own privacy policy. See our affiliate disclosure for more.
3. How we use your information
- To reply to your messages.
- To send the weekly deals email, only if you asked for it.
- To keep records of newsletter consent, as Canadian law requires.
- To understand which deals are useful and improve the site.
- To protect the site from spam and abuse.
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.
4. Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers that help us run imdesi — our web host and, if we use one, an email newsletter service — and only as needed for them to provide that service. These providers may store data outside Canada (for example, in the United States), where it may be subject to local laws.
5. How long we keep it
- Contact messages: up to 2 years, then deleted.
- Newsletter records: while you are subscribed, and consent records for up to 3 years after you unsubscribe, as proof of consent.
6. Your choices and rights
- Unsubscribe at any time using the link in any newsletter email.
- Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it.
- Withdraw consent to our use of your information at any time.
To make a request, use our contact form and choose “Privacy request”. We will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
7. Children
imdesi is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.
8. Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
